Daryl Zang
Bio
Daryl Zang (b.1971) is a Connecticut based artist who creates autobiographical oil paintings. She earned a BFA from Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts with additional study in Florence, Italy.
Zang’s paintings have been exhibited across the United States, most notably at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art (Wausau, WI), the Helen Day Art Center (Stowe, VT), Cavalier Galleries (Greenwich CT, New York NY and Nantucket MA), Principle Gallery (Charleston, SC), RJD Gallery (Sag Harbor, NY) and the Salamagundi Club (New York, NY). Zang’s work has also been exhibited in solo exhibitions at The Bing Art Center, Springfield MA, The Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Art, MA, and at St. Peter’s Church, New York, NY. She is included in the Lunar Codex Collection, the Bennett Collection of Women Artists, San Antonio, TX. Zang is a member of American Women Artists and The Portrait Society of America.
Her work has been published in American Art Collector, Art Seen Magazine, Create! Magazine and Fine Art Connoisseur.
About Daryl Zang
My first real contact with art came early and I honestly don’t remember a time when art was not a part of my life. I was born in New York City and as a child my mother often took me to visit the galleries of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum. I grew to love painting and earned a BFA at Syracuse University and through study in Florence, Italy.
My painting career truly came into focus after the birth of my first child. Ironically, at this time, I found it unthinkable that I would have the time or energy to take painting seriously. I found an escape in my studio and turned to painting to recharge and reconnect with myself. As my life evolved, so did my work. The one constant that has remained true through the years is that art has continued to be my oasis in an ever-changing world.
In a lifetime committed to making art, I am grateful to have shown my work across the United States. I have had solo shows and shared gallery walls with many talented and inspiring artists. My paintings are included in The Bennett Collection of Women Artists (San Antonio, TX), The Lunar Codex and have been published in Art Seen Magazine, Create! Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, and American Art Collector.
I live and work in Connecticut, USA in the home where my husband and I raised two sons.
